The front:

• The inside of the medal is finely grained. It features a large, upright swastika, its ends touching the edge of the medal.
• The arms of the swastika have raised and stepped edges. The ends are open, without a border.
• A wreath of oak leaves, tied at the bottom and almost closed at the top, is placed in the center.
• It contains the double victory runes, the symbol of the Schutzstaffel (SS).

The reverse side:

• A large "8" is centered on a finely grained background.
• Above the "8" is the four-line inscription "FOR LOYAL SERVICE IN THE SS"
