Air Force pilot's badge, manufacturer's mark A on the wreath, Assmann & Sohn, Lüdenscheid, type 7a, non-ferrous metal

Luftwaffe pilot's badge . Eagle and wreath made of non-ferrous metal, the wreath in the thin version. This variant corresponds in design to the Assmann aluminum version. The eagle is separately riveted to the wreath with the solid rivets typical of Assmann, featuring the distinctive head. The badge is in very good, almost unworn condition. The wreath is completely silvered, the eagle almost completely darkened.

On the left side of the wreath, between the rivet and the pin holder, is the manufacturer's mark "A" for the company Assmann & Sohn from Lüdenscheid. See the specialist book by Sebastian Talbot, "The German Luftwaffe Pilot and Combined Pilot and Observer Badge of World War II 1933–1945", pages 74/75, Type 7a. It features a typical pin system with a round tube pin holder and C-shaped pin hook; the pin is made of round wire (1,65 mm diameter). The pin system is entirely made of silver-plated non-ferrous metal. Dimensions: Height 53,35 mm, wreath width 42,32 mm, wing width 64,01 mm. Weight: 30,74 g.
