The Wehrmacht officer’s dagger, also called the army dagger, is particularly popular among collectors.
In 1935, by order of the Chief of the Army High Command, the Army Dagger was introduced for Wehrmacht officers. The dagger was personally approved by the then Reich Chancellor and approved. Each dagger came with a sword-tail and a hanger. Later, aluminum was also used as a material. According to a 1942 report from the Uniformenmarkt (Uniform Market), production was temporarily halted in favor of war-critical goods. In 1944, the carrying of the dagger was completely prohibited in favor of the pistol.

Sale of edged weapons

Until the end of the 19th century, edged weapons such as rapiers, sabers, and daggers played a major role in the military. Edged weapons were designed for close combat with the enemy, when soldiers were still largely equipped with single-shot carbines or when ammunition was unavailable due to a lack of supplies.
