Determine authenticity and value

A very common question we receive is the value of a piece, an estate, or an entire collection. This question can only be answered once the authenticity of the piece(s) has been established.

Determining authenticity and value requires considerable expertise and experience. Unfortunately, copies have become so sophisticated, especially in the last 30 years, that even experienced collectors often fail to recognize them as such. Less specialized dealers face even greater difficulties in this area.

Determine the price of militaria

The valuation of many items has also become complicated, as the militaria market is very large and confusing. Prices have long been set abroad, especially in the United States, which is the largest sales market for militaria. Moreover, valuation often changes rapidly, as demand frequently shifts dramatically within a few months.

Price according to design / variation

The same item in a different version can cost many times the price of the basic version. For example, an infantry assault badge made of zinc might be very well priced at €100, while a version made of copper can cost over €500.

Price according to condition

The same applies to the condition of militaria. Given the same design and material, a heavily worn piece can fetch a good €50, while the same piece in excellent condition can easily fetch €250.

Then there are often militaria pieces where the condition plays almost no role at all, since the range is very large in all states of preservation.
